The purpose of this research was to study the research practices of university professors, from their appropriations as such, through phenomenological research. Following the guidelines indicated by M. Heidegger (1983 and 2002), an interpretative framework is established in three methodological coordinates, to affirm that the practice of research in the university under study is in the process of being reconstructed. Finally, it is affirmed that greater commitments are necessary to strengthen research practices better and with that, the improvement in teaching, in order to achieve the appropriation of the phenomenon in a better way. © 2017, Universidad del Zulia.
