The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of virtual teaching platforms on the training of engineers, for which a systematic review of the scientific literature was carried out. 25 relevant articles were selected from databases using key terms such as “e-learning”, “engineers” and “platform”, from 2020 to June 2024. The findings indicate that these platforms offer significant benefits, such as a better understanding of technical concepts and increased student engagement, in addition, they provide immersive experiences that increase motivation and engagement with learning. However, challenges are identified, such as the need for adequate technological resources and teacher training. It is concluded that virtual teaching platforms are a valuable tool for engineering training, but more research is required to address the challenges and optimize their implementation in educational settings. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
