The purpose of this research is to describe the degree of relationship between communicative interaction and communicative competence in the area of English in fourth grade high school students of an Educational Institution. Of the population made up of high school students, 142 fourth grade high school students were considered as a sample. The type of research used is basic descriptive, descriptive level since after the study of the variables, the possible relationships that exist between them were identified, it is a quantitative research of non-experimental design. Two questionnaires were applied for a detailed analysis of the development of the variables, this was observed through the individual perception of each student. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was considered, concluding that the data present a normal distribution. The results show that the statistical value of Pearson’s r is 32.4, therefore, it can be affirmed with 95% confidence that, there is correlation between the variable Communicative competence and Communicative interaction, given that the p Value = 0.000085 < 0.05, rejects the null hypothesis. The research conducted in this institution concluded that the interaction between the student with the teacher, classmates and even family members influences the development of communicative competence in the English area, highlighting its importance. © 2024, Associacao Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao.
