Technological convergence and its impact on the global digital financial system; [Convergencia tecnológica y su impacto en el sistema financiero digital global]

Resumen

The phenomenon, known as technological convergence, has been the subject of analysis in a growing number of studies and can be witnessed in a variety of different high-tech environments being one of them the financial system. The purpose of this research is to conduct a literature review to identify findings worldwide on technological convergence (TC), specifically in the field related to the financial system, the study focuses on the period 2017 to 2021. A specialized search was conducted for articles on TC and financial system published in leading journals within the Science Direct database. Forty-seven articles published in Q1, Q2 and Q3 journals according to Scimago were selected. This study summarizes how the literature has defined the concept and meaning of technological convergence, convergence drivers, digital financial system concepts and financial technology (Fintech). The article concludes that technological convergence is driving digital finance, consolidating its development. © 2022, Universidad del Zulia. All rights reserved.
